The EXCO meeting was held at AIMS Campus, at the Boardroom, No. 349/2, Main Street, Negombo. The Executive Committee (EXCO) convened on the 10th of July, 2023, at 3:00 PM. The meeting, led by Chairman Dr. Kithsiri Manchanayakke, brought together key stakeholders, both in person and online, via Zoom, to deliberate on matters vital to the institution’s growth and development.

Confirming the Quorum

Prior to commencing the proceedings on the agenda, it became imperative to ascertain the presence of a quorum, a prerequisite to enable the Board’s efficient conduct of business affairs. With confirmation of the quorum’s presence, the groundwork was laid for purposeful and fruitful deliberations.

Minutes Confirmation

The EXCO began by confirming the minutes of their previous meeting, held on the 10th of April, 2023. Dr. Godwin Kodithuwakku proposed the adoption of the minutes, a proposal that was seconded by Mr. Upul Dassanayake. These minutes provided a comprehensive record of the meeting’s proceedings, serving as a valuable reference point for decision-making.

Matters Arising from the Previous Meeting

The Board reviewed and discussed the matters arising from the previous meeting, with updates provided for each item. Progress was reported on various fronts, including the appointment of a new business consultant, revamping the campus website, recruitment of academic staff and counselors, and the application for non-state university status. Each item represented a step forward in AIMS’ commitment to excellence and progress.

New Business: Shaping the Future

The meeting then transitioned to new agenda items, demonstrating AIMS’ forward-thinking approach. Proposals included a new fee plan for Cambridge programs in 2024, the continuation of NILET programs, the purchase of Cambridge textbooks for 2024, updates on the construction of the new study concept “Hamlet,” and the initiation of 2+1 programs with UEL. These proposals highlighted AIMS’ commitment to providing quality education and fostering innovation.

Next EXCO Meeting and Beyond

The meeting concluded with a look to the future, as the next EXCO meeting was scheduled for October 9th, 2023. As the participants departed, the EXCO meeting of July 10th, 2023, left behind a trail of decisions and discussions that would continue to shape the future of AIMS Campus.
